The World Renowned Architects behind Deerpark Karen
Boogertman + Partners Architects Kenya, whose projects include; East Africa’s biggest shopping mall, the new Two Rivers in Nairobi, Nelson Mandela’s family house in Maputo, Mozambique, and the Wangari Muta Maathai House in Kenya which was shortlisted for the 2016 World Architecture Festival Awards, are the architects that designed Deerpark Karen.
According to the lead architect; Johann de Wet, Deerpark is comparable to luxury lifestyle developments anywhere in the world, with its unique and modern lifestyle design having been deliberately influenced by the changing taste of Kenya’s new affluent home owners.
“The location of Deerpark, in the Warai Forest area, lent us the unique privilege to design homes that have connectivity to the beautiful outdoors,” Johann explains. Nairobi’s magnificent weather provided us the perfect opportunity to craft an environment for soaking in the natural splendour of this beautiful location. And the developer (Deerpark Limited) gave us a free hand to sculpture a contemporary design, an end-to-end home with wide open spaces, natural lighting, personal entertainment wings, a private gym and spa for every home, unlike the more standard concept of shared entertainment areas.”
In keeping with its green surroundings, the development is also ahead of the curve sustainability-wise.
“With the increased pressure on energy and water around the world, it is our responsibility to ensure we develop sustainable environments. Deerpark is playing its role by going beyond the statutory need for energy and water conservation measures. There is solar water heating with an added ‘green’ heating feature that uses air to heat water as a back-up for overcast days, and waste water is treated and re-used for gardening.” says De Wet.
